✨Why did you choose cosmetology school?
I decided that it was time for a change at 37. As a career bartender I lived off of interacting with people, making them smile and giving them a service. I like to think that I’ve always been creative and was good with my hands. Add attention to detail and a love for old barbershops and voila!
✨What was one of your ah hah moments?
One of my Ah hah moments was when Ms. Karen told me to slow down the cut. Use the mirror. Look and be calculated. “Balance the fade”. After that I’ve found it has come much more naturally.
✨What does life look like after school?
I’m hoping to be working at Di Michele’s Barber and Emporium in Cromwell. They have been extremely helpful mentoring me throughout my International Institute of Cosmetology journey.
✨What advice would you give to someone looking into cosmetology school?
To any possible student thinking about cosmo school…Go for it! You can thrive here! Be the creative, open, artistic person that you are!!!

✨Why did you choose cosmetology school?
When I was younger, I was always obsessed with styling and coloring everyone’s hair, especially my own. By the age of 10, I knew this industry was for me because everyone in school would come up to me and ask if I could braid their hair during recess. When I first started International Institute of Cosmetology, I was nervous about making mistakes. I thought my mannequin’s hair would break off when I lightened it because I was going so slowly. “Now, I have learned how to foil so much faster and get a client in and out of my chair! “ As I finish school, I will continue my education with esthetic care and makeup!
✨Advice Time…
Some advice I would give someone that is looking into cosmetology school is to make sure you are fully prepared to be totally focused on the next year of your life and DON’T MISS HOURS!
