This Summer Ms. Amber and Ms Angela attended the CEA Conference in Houston, Texas. The Career Educators Alliance (CEA) Conference, hosted by AACS, is the most respected education symposium serving cosmetology, barber, esthetics, nail, and massage instructors from all over North America.
They had the opportunity to meet passionate educators & directors, motivational presenters, and kind brand ambassadors at every turn. “It was a reminder of how refreshing it is to be so warmly welcomed by your peers. It’s an inspiration to make sure I’m putting forth that positive energy myself. “ -Ms Amber
An amazing take away Ms Amber had was during a presentation Gerry Watkins & Quentin McCain gave, Gerry said: “you can’t be burnt out if you were never lit” and I’ve mindfully carried that with me everyday since.
Another takeaway is, We are 50% of every interaction we share with someone else. We are all individually accountable for our contributing percentage. If we show up our best self, there will always be something positive in the mix.
Ms Amber has since written out some of her favorite take aways, tips, and quotes from presenters, along with little moments of kindness people showed her while I was there. Now, Ms. Amber keeps this with her lesson plan, so that throughout her day in class she is reminded of what kind of educator she wants to show up as. “I want to contribute to a positive culture and environment just as much as I want to contribute to education.”
Ms Angela says she was extremely lucky to meet a ton of educators and directors who have the same set of goals to make the culture in the schools and for the students to exceed their expectations and the educator’s expectations as well. “I want to inspire, influence and ignite my staff and students.”
The event was a reminder to understand how important it is to think and be positive . Have a positive attitude and atmosphere. “Have respect for all and kindness goes a long way.”
