✨What made you decide cosmetology & go to IIC?
What made me decide cosmetology was the next endeavor I wanted to pursue was based on a strong liking for doing hair. I’ve been cutting my father and brother’s hair since I was 17. Then I had my daughters and thought, that what better way to save myself some money by going back to school. I applied to IIC in 2014 when my oldest daughter was born but got nervous and bailed last minute.
✨My Ah Hah moments in school were (time you realized this is what you should be doing)?
My “ah-ha” moments in school I feel were when we started doing more with men’s haircuts. I liked doing them outside of school but, then liked them a lot more after my teacher Ms. Lexi showed me the 3-2-1. Then Ms. Marissa showed me more ways to do these cuts. Now, I absolutely love them and would like to specialize in those more.
✨Where do you see yourself when you finish school?
I would like to see myself in a unisex salon where I do both men and women’s hair. I’d also like to continue my education.
✨What advice would you give someone looking into Cosmetology school?
It doesn’t matter how old or young you are it’s never too late to learn a new trade in life. I thought being in my 30’s and a mom of 4, I was too old to start over in life, but I was sorely mistaken.
